Silently on the highwayIn the past, US cops used V8s, but police officers now use the BMW i8 to pursue speed merchants on the highways around Los Angeles in virtual silence. At up to 250 km/h the hybrid sports car shoots along the road on sports rims with tyres made of rubberised material. With the light bar on the roof and the striking black/white paintwork, the cops rule the highway. While the prototype’s bodywork is manufactured mainly from carbon fibre, the siku variant is made of metal.
